The Widdowson Group selects Telogis solutions to manage its logistics-based mobile workforce
Vehicle tracking and real-time monitoring of job booking times with location-based intelligence solutions help nationwide logistics company improve customer service and reduce costs
Telogis, provider of cloud-based connected vehicle technologies and solutions, has been selected by The Widdowson Group, a nationwide logistics company based in Leicester, to provide its platform of location-intelligent applications to manage a fleet of more than 100 vehicles. Using the Telogis platform, transport managers at The Widdowson Group will be able to proactively monitor vehicles against planned booking times, resulting in the improvement of customer service satisfaction rates and the reduction of operating costs.
The Widdowson Group has already implemented the Telogis Fleet telematics application in its vehicles and plans to deploy Telogis Progression for mobile work order management, followed by the Telogis Route Planning Suite for Full Load controllers in the transport office. Telogis’ mobile driver gamification application, Coach will be deployed to all drivers once the rollout of new smartphones has been completed to identify best practices that will benefit both drivers and the organisation.

Telogis’ cloud-based solutions enable mobile enterprises to connect to vehicles, assets and workers via mobile devices (phones and tablets) to derive location data and provide re-routing information, job specifications and traffic and safety details. Telogis Progression offers real-time job creation, estimated time of arrival and job completion, routing (including dynamic changes through the day), dispatching, customer service notifications and route compliance reporting.
Telogis Coach delivers a snapshot of the day’s events directly to the drivers’ mobile device and helps drivers understand what behaviours and practices need improvement, and how the overall quality and safety of their driving habits fit into the goals of the organisation.
Paul Caygill added; “Another benefit of the Telogis solutions is that we are now able to fit tracking units to vehicles ourselves. With our previous supplier only their engineers were able to install or repair faulty tracking units. As our fleet is really busy and there were some constraints around engineer time, most work had to be scheduled at a weekend. Telogis has been able to train our in-house garage team to install units offering us greater flexibility and lower costs. As the Garage is open 24/7 any problems will be rectified much more quickly minimising downtime.”
